Interesting - just talked to tech support at melco a moment ago and they said
that their guess was that my new computer from HP had 64 bit Windows Vista
installed - and that AOS will not work under 64 bit.

I'll confirm later tonite but that does make sense, as I had noticed there were
two "program files" folders on the c drive. One "program files" and one
"program files (x86)". Googling that - it appears that is indeed related to 64
bit windows installs.

Crud. So, I need to do a clean install of X86 windows.

Just something to look out for if you are buying a new computer. Make sure
it's not running Windows Vista 64 bit edition. Mark at Melco said he's seeing
it installed as default more and more...
