Dear Brad, We went to the ISS show in Long Beach and walked from one machine vendor to the next. We compared all the machines and mostly ignored the sales people because they tend to over due the capabilities of their product. I wasn't convinced about the Amaya even though I had experience with Melco. I liked there tech support with an EMT 10T but didn't like some things about the Amaya. Went to another seminar at home and the Amaya problems had been changed or solved. Bought the machine and haven't had one problem that didn't turn out to be me. I would purchase another one in a heartbeat. Once thing you must do with any of these is to go to training and understand there is a learning curve that you need to give yourself time for. I personally think that the SWF is cheaply built and the Amaya is well worth the extra funds. (very important questions) I would definitely buy another Amaya. In hindsight I wish I would have purchased a higher level of DS, in my case the Pro. Since I am relatively new to the embroidery industry I can't speak from experience with other machines but I think the Amaya technology is the wave of the future and it was very easy for me to learn how to run. I've also heard good things about the other brands too. The other thing (besides technology) that swayed my opinion was my salesman's low pressure tactics. I was working with a Tajima salesman too and he was more than I could handle! Good luck with your decision. (very important questions) Newbie questions: Is the AMAYA the machine for me ? I've read horror stories and hero stories......some folks luv 'em and some hate 'em. I've listened to each manufacturers spin on why theirs is the best....and I'm having a hard time separating them all. Barudan, Tajima, SWF, Melco.......everyone has a great story to tell.......but I want to hear from "the street" and actual day to day issues/problems/sucesses. If you had it to do all over again, would you still buy the AMAYA ? Is the AMAYA better suited for a Newbie or industry Veteran ? Is Design Shop Pro (or Pro+) worth the $ 5k or whatever it is they are nailing you for ? The AMAYA "package" comes with the machine, starter kit of supplies, and DS Pro for $ 17k The SWF "package" comes with the machine, starter kit, and their software for $ 11k. Tajima comes in around $15k........ Is the AMAYA $5,000 better than the SWF ??? HELP !! ANY feedback is greatly appreciated.
