Cheryl, When I have my designs done by someone else I have them sent in .dst. This format saves any fill paterns, setting, etc, so that it will sew exactly as the digitizer set ut up. Unless your digitizer is using Design Shop you would probably want either .exp or .dst. If your digitizer uses Design Shop ask for it in .ofm. As far as converting to wireframe goes. When a file is in .exp or .dst it will hold all the values put in the original design by the digitizer. When you convert to wireframe the software is trying to convert the original data as close as it can but Design Shop may not be able to decipher the exact setting since the design was created in a different software which will make some things come out different. Sorry I am not real good at putting thought onto paper. I am sure Ed or Jeff or someone will chime in to give a cleareer explaination :) Aaron Sargent The Linen Barn linen@xxxxxxxxxxx Medford, OR ----- Original Message ----- From: Cheryl Rotter To: amayausers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, July 12, 2005 1:23 PM Subject: [amayausers] Software File Extension This may seem like a silly question, but I am wondering since I send most of my digitizing out to someone overseas due to price constraints, what format should I be asking for: Melco condensed (.cnd) or Melco expanded (.exp)? What is the difference and why do the files change stitch count etc when I switch to wireframe? Thanks for the time.
