You have to get a feel for the customer. Some of my customers I can get a
100% markup on the apparel, some only 60%. I have a local distributor that I
use as I can pick up the apparel and no S/H fee. I try to use SanMar as much
as possible but I still get charged a small S/H fee as I just don't have
enough business yet. I always estimate the higher price with the knowledge I
can back it back down if the customer is not comfortable with the price by
stating I got a better price on the garment due to my connection or a
discount, etc. That way I get a feel for what they will be happy with. I am
have not been in business more than 3 months and it is a challenge to gauge
prices.

We are new to the embroidery & retail business. We know about charging for
the embroidery (per 1000 stitch) but what about the garment? Is there an
average mark-up on the garment, do we charge the S&H? We don't want to cheat
ourselves but we want to start good customer relations and keep them coming
back for more. Can any one give a little advise?
