There are two areas to look at. First the distance between the face of the 
presser foot and the needle. You should have approximately a good 1/8 in to 
3/16 in space for clearance between them. If the presser foot is bent too far 
back, then it will start striking the front side of the grabber trap and make a 
bunch of noise. This may be what you are hearing. Check the front side of the 
grabber trap and see if you see shiney marks where the back side of the presser 
foot shaft is rubbing against the face of it. Normally there is close clearance 
here anyway, so check it closely for clearance also....
