The major cause of false thread breaks is in machine settings. Presserfoot
height is critical. Should not be more 1 or 2 clicks up from the full down
position....0 to 1 up on T's..
Really should be using '"Auto acti-feed"' and make sure the "auto lower limit"
is at 1 to 2 in most cases. Of course this depends on the actual thickness of
the garment...with thicker stuff then the limit gets a higher number.
Then there is the "Design" issue. Narrow column width is a ""major"" cause of
false thread breakage. When a column at say 10 points wide is approximately
.040" wide and a 75/11 needle is poking a hole at .075" in diameter ...the
overlapping hole into the column is almost as big as the column is wide....draw
a column out on a piece of paper and place needle penetrations on each side of
the column, it should be instantly visible as to what might be happening....the
columns need to be wider and speed reduced in a lot of cases to get through a
project.
Or, it could be a combination of all or part of the above......and then there
is the machine lubrication isse, etc, etc....
