The thread is alrady suppose to be cut under the needle plate before the
grabber fires. It will then pull the cut thread up through the garment and
stuff it up into the grabber trap out of the way.
Yes, it can break a needle or bend it which is probably worse...The trimmer
assembly may need to be adjusted. Have you cleaned and lubricated this assembly
under the needle plate?
