Cindy,

The lower the Material Thickness, the less top thread, the more bobbin thread. It is correct for the bobbin to pull up and show if the Material Thickness is too low. This is assuming that the bobbin tension is adjusted correctly.

Another thing that will cause looping is too dense of a design. Too many stitches in one spot will bind the thread and it will not pull the stitches tight. Is the looping happening in an area where there may be stitches on stitches like 2 fills on top of each other, then some more lettering etc? This could account for it being a problem the last week or so if the design being sewn is something you are doing for the last week or so. Does it do it with all designs sewn or just the current job you are doing?

That's also why we're having so much trouble determinating what the cause of this is.

If we lower the MT, the loops are better but the bobinthread is showing on top.

and see if there's a change it should be substantially tighter.
if you don't see a change I would think that there is a computer
issue or the OS is glitching. Then I would re-install the OS.

Give it try.

Thanks for these suggestions. The machine has been given a big maintenance very recently. The problem occurs on both machines so changing the bobbincase is not possible. I'll have to order a new one to try that out. But anyhow, it's strange that the same problem occurs on both machines at the same time.
The bobbin tension has always been the seen, it's only since a week or so that we experience these problems.
The only thing in the article you mentioned I do not understand is this : - Make sure your needle depth is correct and that the machine is timed according to your machine company's specifications.
Is that the material thickness or is there another feature that we can change to adjust the needle depth ?

Thanks,
Cindy

Cindy this could be due to a number of things. First read this article and
see if helps http://stitches.com/mag/apparel_thread_tensions/index.html
Clean the bobbin case (or try a spare one) and oil the machine if hasnt been
done recently. Check your bobbin tensions by jerking your wrist only (not
moving your arm at all) and the bobbin should slowly fall to the floor. If
it doesn't move, your bobbin tension is too tight. It it falls to the floor
without jerking your wrist, the tension is too loose. Run a series of tests
by saving a design of 1 inch "I"'s with color changes and the bobbin should
cover about 50% on the back side. Hope this helps

From: Cindy To: amayausers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wed, 5 Oct 2005 02:47:40 -0700 (PDT) Hello,

We have two machines that work together as one cluster.

Lately we experience a lot of problems with loose stitches. We have the
problem with different design, on both machines, on different colours, on
different needles.

Changing the material thickness did not solve the problem.

Adjusting the bobin case didn't also make any difference.

We changed needles, did a maintenance, we changed the thread feed rollers
but
nothing helps.

Does anyone have any suggestions what the problem might be and how to solve
it.
It generally seems that the wider the lettering, the better the result but
with smaller lettering (no to small even) we obtain worse results. We also
have the problem with fill stitches : even then we see that the stitches are
loose or looping.

Who can help us ?

If you wish, I can always send a picture of an example that has been
embroidered.

Thanks,

Cindy
