You can try using the perspective Envelope setting in the lettering attributes
box.
This will allow you to add curved points to the upper and lower borders and
then play around withthe figure handles and points and curve control handles
till you get what you want.
I was able to make a 3 letter circle monogram in curly font in a few min.
