If the monogram is that big, I would set it up as 'art', not a font-and then play with different fill patterns until something looks good. Even large letters on hats-I get better results than trying to use satin stitch. I would take your large hoop, hoop up a couple pieces of backing, then fill the area (in design shop) with 'boxes' 1" x 3" and fill each one with a different fill pattern so you can have a sew out to look at and see which fill might simulate a satin stitch.
