You might have to play with the pressor foot setting and manual thread setting to keep it from getting too tight. So far I've had no problem with using the 'auto' setting but pressor foot setting is key to a 'loose' pattern-you don't want it too tight. After sewing, you 'stretch' the hat between your fingers and the tearaway tears off itself-almost falling right away. We have a hand held 'steamer for any solvy that didn't also 'tear off' when you stretch it out.
