Geri,
You won't believe how many customers disassemble their thread feed drive motor 
in an attempt to remove their thread feed drive gear.
"Looks easy enough to do" is a common phrase.
If you do disassemble the thread feed motor and are not able to get it back 
together correctly, then you will be looking at purchasing a new motor as well.
Be sure to follow the instructions correctly.
