If you want to do a quick check, move your needle case to either needle # 1 or # 16 and then drop down to one knee where your eyeballs are level with your needle clamps. All your needle clamps, with the exception of the one needle that is ready to sew, should be approximately at the same level. If needle #7 is slightly higher than all the others, your needle clamp might be wacking against the bottom of the needle case and the needle eye isn't going down deep enough for the rotary hook to catch the top thread. Basically it's out of adjustment. Depending on your level of mechanical ability, this can be easy to fix, or can be pandora's box. The next step is to find someone who will take the responsibility and the time to spend with you over the phone to instruct you on correcting this. Because remember, this needle depth subject may not be your problem in the first place.
