[amayausers] Amaya Specific Digitizers Myth

Rod,

I am not sure if you run any other machines along side the Amaya. I do
I find that all the designs that I run on the other machines run equally
well on the Amaya. That=92s why I stated that special digitizing for the
Amaya is a Myth.

I am an mm (millimetre) person so how do you compare 5 points to 10
points in mm converted? The smallest I would recommend in lettering is
4mm and I have no problem with that on the Amaya.=20

When I bought my Amaya I tested one of my designs to make sure it runs
the same as one of the other brands of machines including metallic
thread. The machine ran at 1200 spm with metallic. The Australian Melco
Agent will confirm or deny that. I have to slow my other machines down
to run metallic.

I am not beating my drum here about my digitizing because... There are a
lot more digitizers out there that are heaps better... I gave up doing
work for other new embroiderers a long time ago because of injury
(carpel) due to too much digitizing. Id still look at a design to help a
newbie though without charge.

Unrelated - About Business Practices - I read a book about finite and
infinite business practices and Toyotas production practice as in cars
not embroidery machines + business practices of the tiger economies.
There was heaps to learn.

My Guess is Any one aspiring to be a contract embroiderer would have to
charge 5 to 25 cents per 1000 stitches and turn around 5k to 10k
embroidered designs per day. Any one on the list please correct me if I
am wrong.

Anand

Anand,
The major differences with the Amaya and digitized designs is the speed
and=20
needle placement. Probably what we should be talking about in this=20
discussion is not digitizing, but editing of designs in general. Two
things=20
about the Amaya I and others have noticed, is that the Amayas do not
like=20
short stitches in a design and along the same line, it does not like
super=20
small columns, as in small lettering. The cure for this is to learn how
to=20
use the software.h

 An example of this is to select the entire design, Properties, Column
and=20
at the bottom of the display window, change the "minimum column width"
to 10=20
points instead of the default 5 points. This plus the ability to adjust=20
thread feeds, material thickness, stitch lengths, reduce overall
stitches,=20
etc, etc, will make it possible to edit any design to run flawlessly
with an=20
absolute minimum of thread breaks.

All anyone is saying about digitizing for the Amaya is that if the
digitizer=20
has an Amaya he can verify a given design on, he will usually do the=20
footwork for the customer letting him know the best settings and speed
he=20
ran the design at to achieve the best results. If a person wants to slow
the=20
Amaya down to the slower speeds some of the other machines run at, than
you=20
may need less editing of individual designs. Some designs need quite a
lot=20
and others don't need any.

Adjusting and editing designs so the Amaya can run at 12 to 1300+ does
not=20
make it an inferior machine in my book. An analogy would be kind of like

having a high performance racecar. Feed it 85 octane fuel, it will still
run=20
but clean up the fuel and increase the octane and it will perform much=20
better. The same applies to any given design--clean it up and it will
run=20
better on any machine, especially one that is running at high
speed........
