re: Notts-Derby British Computer Society events
The BCS is keen to encourage young people who may be considering a career in
Computing to become involved with the organistaion, so with this in mind, I am
just putting out 'feelers' to schools in the area.
You may like to know that the planned Winter School this year will be on the
topic of 'Open Source' (Linux/mySQL and the like.)
We are hoping to aquire speakers in the categories of Independent, for an
overview (journalist?); User and Developer.
IBM are sending a speaker, I believe
Any pupils who would like to attend will not be charged admission.
The meetings will probably be on Monday evenings at 7.00pm (coffee served from
6.30) at the Novotel in Long Eaton on 6th, 13th & 20th of October
We may be able to liase in other ways to our mutual benefit also (e.g. we have
funds set aside for special projects.)
