Aloha, Kimberly-That is great! We'll get together early the week of 13 August
to run thru the songs. I have compiled some and need to find somewhere to
download them to a .pdf to distribute to everyone (I am in Canada at a hockey
camp), hopefully in the next couple of days. Jake Shimbukaro said, "if you know
three chords, you can play 200 Hawaiian songs!" That is almost true! Pretty
much every traditional Hawaiian song starts and ends with a vamp, and one
played between each verse as well. A turnaround, if you will.A hui hou (see you
soon)!

Hi everyone, I'd be interested in playing then! May I get a copy of the Hawaii
in music?
Interesting timing because I just borrowed a ukulele book that focuses mostly
on the traditional Hawaiian "vamp" style. I'd never heard of that (it's just a
certain progression of 7 chords), but it does sound distinctly Hawaiian. I'm
curious to see whether the hula music has it!
Cheers, Kim

I can be there on the 13th for practice. Since this is my first dance with the
group I will keep it to two easy dances. I will bring copies of the music on
the 13th.Shireen

Sounds great. We probably want a special session to practice and/or determine
arrangements.
