Interesting topic - particularly interesting since Dan Brown (author of the De
Vinci Code) was my classmate in college and friend back in that day. Makes for
great theatre and a great story line - but the painting was done more than 1400
years after the Last Supper by someone clearly not an eye witness and really
has no bearing on what actually transpired at the last supper. For that we can
and should rely only on the scriptural accounts.
Blessings,
Brian

Joel,
I don’t believe either iscorrect. Some thoughts, they reclined rather than sat
as was required.Judas left after they dipped so likely matzoth in the horosheth
so before themeal and well before the third cup. In Leonardo’s painting it is
John nota woman to Jesus’ right which is correct. Judas was to Jesus’ leftalso
correct, which was the position of honor. I believe there was about 30 atthe
last supper and at several tables. The apostles were at the table with
Jesus. The disciples on the road to Emmaus recognized Him in the breaking of the
breadsomething they could only do if they were there. Peter was some distance
from Jesusbecause he signaled to John to ask who would betray and John could
whisper fromJesus’ breast without anyone else hearing. There was a
typicaldining setup where they were served from one side of the table. All
their feetwould extend out from the table making washing the feet easier. I
think thedisciples were typically about age 20 otherwise if they were older
they wouldhave to pay the temple tax like Jesus and Peter. I believe Jesus was
theoldest. The room was large. I have never seen the last supper
properlypresented.
Grace and peace,
Bruce

Subject: [ahc] The Last Supperpaintings?
Shalom,
Happy New Year to everyone... I have attached 2 picturesregarding Jesus Last
Supper Paintings, one is very familiar. Jesus sits at thetable but there is no
bread or the chalice with wine. Also if you look closelylooking at the picture
on the left a woman sits at the table... is it MaryMagdalene? Now take a look
at my second image of Jesus's last supperpainting... you see bread and the
Chalice which is filled with wine. If youlook towards the right on the back you
can see Judas Escariott givingJesus his back. Which of the paintings is more
believable? Just becauseLeonardo DaVinci claims he painted Jesus with the
Apostles including a femalefigure in the painting, does not tell me this is the
correct painting of theLast Supper with the Messiah. I looked and researched
many paintings and Ireally like the second painting, with all 12 Apostles. This
is just my opinion.I would like to hear some feedback from AHC. Lent is about
to start for theRoman Catholic Order in just a month an half. The Last Supper
symbolizes partof the Holy Lent and it's meaning.
Love in the Messiah.
Joel
P.S. I dedicate my life studying and researching Jesus Christ entire 33years he
walked on the same planet we live in. 2000 years later we have more tolearn.
Not making this a joke, but Jesus as a baby also was wearing diapers, aswe all
did when we were babies as some point.
