Gabrielle Benefield
Scaling Agile – Rolling out Scrum to the Yahoo! Enterprise
Gabrielle Benefield as Senior Director of Agile Development at Yahoo helped migrate nearly 200 teams to Scrum over 30 months, totaling over 1500 people. The projects ranged from consumer-facing, design-heavy websites like Yahoo! Photos, to the mission-critical back-end infrastructure of services like Yahoo! Mail, which serves hundreds of millions of customers; they range from entirely new products like Yahoo! Podcasts, which used Scrum from concept through launch (and won a Webby Award for best product in its category that year), to more incremental projects, which included work on new features as well as bug fixes and other maintenance; and Yahoo! Scrum for distributed projects, where the teams were on separate continents.
Gabrielle will talk about how the Scrum rollout at Yahoo! went and also talk about:
Ø How Scrum was perceived by the Yahoo! community (Scrum teams, users, managers, etc)
Ø What pitfalls to avoid
Ø Some war stories – why Scrum isn't a silver bullet
Ø When and when you should consider using Scrum?
At the end of her talk Gabrielle will be open to Q & A from the audience.
