I would love to hear from anyone in this group that has managed to open a bank
account without an SSN. I would like to know what you had to tell them to get
past the "this is our policy" BS, and make them realize they can't lawfully
turn you away. If they tell me they legally have to get an SSN from me, I can
show them where the CFR says they must "request" and where it's a felony to
compel the disclosure of an SSN, but they'll say it's their policy (and it's
not compulsion because you don't have to get an account). I wrote to the
Social Security Administration and they said they can't address the legality of
bank policies. Do you have to literally file criminal charges to get them to
yield? And if so, what?It's obviously a big criminal racket but I'm a musician
and antique seller with basically zero legal background, also introverted and
much worse at speaking than writing, which I guess makes me easy to walk all
over. I'm not wealthy to begin with and running out of ways to make a living
off the "plantation" and may have to break down and use a different approach
(like Cary and the 1020 forms). But I'd rather not use the stupid slave number
which I never signed up for in the first place.
