To add to my other message, Skye I am intrigued by what you said about being
exempt from federal taxation under the Privacy Act. As far as I know, the
Privacy Act prohibits government agencies for discriminating against you for
not providing an SSN. Is there something in there about exemption from taxes?
The Privacy Act doesn't seem very useful to me, since it's a statute and it
leaves the door open for other statutes that do require a "person" to provide
an SSN. But I'd love to be wrong about that.
This is where the IRS says anyone that makes more than $600/year is not
protected by the Privacy Act (see bottom of page):
