What this document states
New Jersey
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that, to the best of my knowledge and ability,
I will support and defend
the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and
domestic, and that I will bear true
faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without
any mental reservation or
purpose of evasion; and that I demean myself as an Attorney At Law of this
Court, uprightly and
according to law. So help me God.
What the New Jersey legislature demands
"I, , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the
United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey, and that I will
bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the Governments established
in the United States and in this State, under the authority of the people So
help me God." And
"I, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully, impartially and
justly perform all the duties of the office of attorney at law according to the
best of my ability. So help me God."
