Oaths after Christ may be for liars.
My understanding was that many early Christians who refused to take swear
allegiance to Caesar when demanded would be executed.
Can one have allegiance to God and to the State?
Maybe temporary allegiance, under God.
Right now, I have made a promise to support the work of Christ via the
United Methodist Church.
Our Book of Discipline allows a swearing or affirmation before a magistrate
ina cause of truth.

God himself. Took an oath when he cut the calf in half and walked between it
with Abraham.

I'm not a Bible scholar either, but I just want to put this out there
because I have often heard that Christians are not supposed to swear oaths,
yet if you take the phrase "swear not at all" to mean what it sounds like,
it creates contradictions with the rest of the Bible. In Deuteronomy 6 &
10, God says to swear oaths in His name. If you read Zechariah 5:3-4, you
can tell that the sin of "swearing" is talking about falsely, not all
swearing. If Jesus is the son of God, it doesn't make sense for him nullify
what his Father said, especially when he's talking to Pharisees who swear by
other objects to avoid the obligation to tell the truth. He is saying let
your yes always mean yes and your no always mean no, not that you can't take
an oath. It should be "swear not at all falsely" or the like.

if they come to the church to celebrate Easter?

Hello City Council,
Lord willing, i will be on the front sidewalk of St. Peter's this Sunday
morning at around ten-thirty o'clock to observe, and then i will attempt to
enter at approximately five minutes to eleven o'clock to "worship Almighty
God according to the dictates of my own conscience".
i am a Member in Good Standing of the United Methodist Church under the
laws and Constitution of the State of New Jersey and the Bill of Rights in
Amendment to this Constitution for the united States of America and there
is no lawful order existing preventing me from doing so. This is a civil
matter and St. Peter's has always possessed the Right to pursue a Civil
Remedy at the Superior Court if they wished to sue for an Injunction to see
if any lawful authority exists to ban me is justified. No such Suit has
ever been filed.
i will be wearing my lawful and legal striped-prison-uniform in a peaceable
manner and will be unarmed and not a threat to the peace and safety of my
fellow worshippers or to the Public.
The Council represents the People, and its powers and authority are
designed to be a counterweight to any oppressive Executive and Judicial
overreach.
i repeat my recent statement that if i am prevented from entering by Force
of Arms of one or more municipal officers that are sworn and subscribed "to
support the aforementioned Constitutions under the authority of the
people", then i expect the City Council to fire Chief John Prettyman and
the City Solicitor Dottie McCrosson for cause by Resolution since Prettyman
and McCrosson are also now lawfully "sworn-and-subscribed" to "support" the
laws and Constitution of the State of New Jersey and the Bill of Rights in
Amendment to this Constitution for the united States of America.
This will be one more Crime to add to the long list of Crimes committed
against four members of the Dice family thus far by public servants and
employees for the past seven years, while "supposedly-sworn-and-subscribed"
members of the New Jersey BAR attorneys-at-law and
"supposedly-sworn-and-subscribed" New Jersey BAR judges permit an unabated
scheme to continue of protecting multiple public servants and employees of
the City of Ocean City Municipal Corporation, granting those public
servants and employees the privilege of abusing their powers and authority
to Govern and the privilege to commit crimes against peaceful members of
society, with few apparent repercussions to date in a successful effort to
benefit both their business cronies and a plethora of highly-paid fellow
public servants and employees which are paid with city tax revenues.
best regards,
