Wayne,

What program are you in exactly when this happens? Could you be encountering 
a combo box? If so, try pressing alt down arrow to open the combo box, then 
try arrowing down or moving down with the display.

We need more information to have a better idea what might be occurring.

  It's kind of complicated.  When I come to a certain screen, a drop down 
menu appears.  The braille display sits on a blank line and none of the 
regular hot keys work for the speech on WindowEyes.  Hope this clarifies.
