Hey Leah,

Try the following for starters:

1. Open the view menu with alt + V.
2. Arrow down through the available options. If you find "reading pane", 
press right arrow to open the associated submenu, then arrow through the 
resulting choices. One of these will be "off". If off is not checked, press 
enter to check it. If it is already checked, just press the alt key to exit 
the menu.

Next:

1. Return to the View Menu with alt + V.
2. Arrow down through the options until you reach autopreview.
3. If autopreview is checked, press enter to uncheck it. If not checked, 
just press alt to exit the menu.
