Maybe we could have a short meeting before rehearsal to come up with a plan?
Not as a true "board meeting" but just to hash out a few things before the
concerts. If you can't make it, no big deal. I can plan to be there about 7:00.
The next actual board meeting is just before our Sunday concert at Anderson,
right?

Howdy everyone. I know I'm not the most loved voice on here, but if I could
chime in on the donation thing, I have a suggestion.
Grab a trumpet case. I'm sure someone has an extra laying around. Empty, of
course. The sadder looking, the better. Set it up open on a small table.
Sprinkle a few dollars in it. Get an 11x14 poster board or something else
that will stand on its own against the open lid, have it say something about
donations welcome and have a qr code people could scan that takes them to our
paypal.
Just my 2 cents.

Well, darn, I've been trying to convince Nancy to *play* with us at the
concert. But if she's not comfortable doing that yet, I think it would
be great for her to be holding the donation box and handing out programs.
I looked around my place and the best thing I have that could be used as
a donation box is a clear pitcher (which would work great if we were
using it for restaurant staff tips, but seems weird for a band concert).
I was probably going to run errands this afternoon, I can look for a nice
basket/box if I have time.

I've brought this up before, but it never seems to get much traction.
We should always have someone at the front of the hall. People are
more likely to donate if there is a person there. It is also good to
have someone handing out programs and who can also answer questions
or help audience members in general. And yes, we should get head
counts as well as general demographic counts.
I think some flowers for Willow would be nice. Robert mentioned to
me that she would only be playing on one of the two concerts, but I
am not sure which one.

I definitely think we should present a simple arrangement of
flowers to Willow in appreciation of the work on her performance.
Perhaps we could use a nice basket for donations for each concert.
I am glad that Nancy volunteered to help with this. My question—
do we need a head count for future grant application data?

Hi Board,
Nancy Middleton (one of the new horn players) emailed me the
other day asking if she could pass out programs at the
concerts, as she doesn’t feel ready to perform on stage with us
just yet. She also volunteered to help mind the donation box,
if we can find one. (I have my old blue bucket we used for the
outdoor 4th of July concerts, but honestly, I think that would
look pretty crummy for indoor performances!) Does anyone have
a nice canister or box that could be used to collect donations?
I know we could use an open instrument case, but the last time
we did that, I recall it didn’t work terribly well…
Nancy also asked if it was customary for the group to get
flowers for soloists like Willow I’m not sure if we’ve given
flowers since I’ve been in ACWE, but is this something we
should consider for her? (I told Nancy that she wouldn’t need
to get these herself, of course – it’d be something we would
take care of.) Of course, I thanked her profusely for offering
to help us out at our concerts, and I let her know that she is
welcome to perform with us whenever she feels ready.
