Ok, I will try to work those directions up again. In the meantime, I think you are very close to doing what you want. If I understand correctly, you have already saved a powerpoint into a folder in your Frontpage web and are ready to hyperlink it. In that case you simply need to go into frontpage, go into the restricted folder, opent the webpage that used to be named renameme.html (you renamed this so it would be your password) then on that page, you need to type in what you want the hyperlink to be, highlight it,choose hyperlink, then navigate UP A LEVEL OUT OF THE RESTRICTED folder and into the folder where your powerpoint file is. From there it should work like a charm.
