Jessica,
Try using a hair dryer on the iPod as long as the hair dryer as a cool setting. I washed my cell phone in the washing machine once and tried to dry it out with the hair dryer and it worked. I'm not saying this will work in 
all cases, I think I was lucky. Good luck
