The problems I experienced with the earlier version weren't as bad as what you're describing, and I don't see any problems at all with the newer version. I'm running Solara on an iPhone 4S. Have you tried taking some apps out of memory with the App Switcher?
BTW, when I was seeing a similar issue in the previous version of Solara, turning off the music and/or the sounds didn't help.
