OK so what you guys are saying is to when I get home with the new phone, connect to the PC, Restore from ICloud and everything will be as if I had my 3gs? Yes It's several months and everything can change from now until January, but nevertheless I'm mentally preparing myself for if it happens. Also this thread maybe of use to someone who might be upgrading soon.

Apps are not backed up to iCloud however the documents and data for such apps are if turned on via iCloud. When you restore from an iCloud backup, it will download and install the latest and greatest apps.
