AS long as service packs are released for products they will stick around. Here's just one example: support for windows 98 was suppose to originally expire in 2004 however it didn't until another 2 and a half years later. As for XP I wouldn't worry because the product will not expire until at the earliest 2014 and since service packs are still being produced for it and vista wasn't the PC world's answer to the big bang theory I wouldn't worry about it catching the last train for the coast anytime soon.
