Reformatting means that you will have to reinstall Windows and then reinstall all your programs. This is an extreme solution and it won't help at all if you again do whatever infected you in the first place. Do you run antivirus and antispyware programs? Do you do things like click on advertisements on web sites telling you that you can scan your computer for problems for free? You may want or need to completely reinstall everything but you may be able to remove the infections by running good antimalware programs or by discussing the problem on an Internet discussion forum site where such problems are worked with. But even there, you may need sighted help to do certain things such as do some sort of work that must be done in Safe Mode, where you will have no speech. Reformatting and reinstalling Windows will require sighted help and it may require that a sighted person do the whole thing, since you say you have little knowledge and are unlikely to have necessary equipment such as an external USB sound card which will give you speech with part of the installation. But if you do reformat and reinstall everything, it is of paramount importance after you do that you not do the same things that got you in trouble this time. If you don't use proper precautions now, running good antimalware programs, opening attachments you are not absolutely sure are safe, allowing sites that tell you to scan your computer to do so, you will have the same problems or similar problems again.

You're dealing with a user with little knowledge of computer operations.

Can you outline the steps for this process?

If not, can you tell me where to begin looking for the information?

Reformat your hard disk and reinstall windows. That's the only way to be certain you've gotten rid of the threat.

   Hi all,

Recently, my computer started issuing warnings about infected or suspicious files.

The warnings occur every few minutes even if I press the "cancel button" that is presented.

By the way, the "cancel button" is the only choice I'm given; and still the warnings keep appearing, accompanied by the offer to buy some antimalware protection whose origins I can't locate.

And just to pur insult on top of injury, my computer has started shutting down and restarting without input from me.

Some help is really needed here!

   Marcus
