Telus offers the touch pro as a side note. You might want to start with them since you already have a relationship established. I don't know much about Canadian carriers though other than they are much more expensive than their US counterparts but I'd suspect it is worth your time to shop around a little. Anyway, good luck, post any other questions you might have and by all means join some of the vendor mailing lists. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kerri To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 3:41 PM Subject: [accesscomp] Re: talx thank you very much. I have to rid myself of this pay and talk through Telus using an LG phone. I would love to have a battle of wit with you but you appear to be unarmed. ----- Original Message ----- From: Scott Granados To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 3:36 PM Subject: [accesscomp] Re: talx You can go to http://www.mobilespeak.com and use the MSP compatibility wizard to see what works. You can also join the mobilespeak mailing list and ask for user oppinions, there's a fair bit of traffic there. You can also join the aiphone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx mailing list for more general phone info and IPhone specific questions. Oh and I shouldn't forget the Blackberry either. Code Factory ahd Humanware are releasing orator for the black Berry early this fall. You can find versions for both Nokia and Windows mobile. Personally, I'm a winmo guy but I have heard very good things about their simbian OS products as well. (simbian = the OS on the Nokia) If you're starting out with a new contract or have the option to buy a new phone definitely check out the windows mobile devices. I personally use an HTC Touch Pro and love it but there are many good devices including the Epix / Saga, Touch Pro, Treo pro and many more. You also have the IPhone as an option. I believe it's Rogers that has the IPhone available. The advantage here is the screen reader is included so there's no extra cost other than the phone itself. I personally think we blind users need to support companies that offer accessibility out of the box so I like sending people to Apple as an option. Either way, any of these options are well supported in Canada. There are many (and I mean many) Canadian users of all the products I listed. Good luck! ----- Original Message ----- From: Kerri To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 1:57 PM Subject: [accesscomp] Re: talx I know of no other talking software sold here in Canada. If there are others, I shall take it, thanks, Scott. I believe most Nokia phones would work however. I think a lot of folks use the E71. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kerri To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 1:38 PM Subject: [accesscomp] talx hi, folks. which nokia supports the tox software, please? thanks so much.
