Press f11 to go back to the other mode. f11 is a toggle that turns full screen
mode on and off. Full screen mode should be used with programs that have it.
It means that the text portion of a window expands to take up the full screen
and you don't have access to any menus.

I Have the latest version of Firefox, because I am still running XP on this
computer. I somehow changed a setting that was labeled "full screen" and now I
can't get Jaws to read any of the menus, file, edit, view, tools, etc. When I
press the alt key nothing shows up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
