Skype will not give audio notifications. However, if you download the program called Skype talking, I believe from Skypetalking.com, you can then get notifications of people as they sign in and out and much more audio feedback for the program. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pat Hart To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, February 21, 2011 12:59 PM Subject: [accesscomp] Re: looking for utility to... Hi list, This is not related to the utility e-mail, but am using skype and am new at it.. I run a Jaws screen-reader and have a problem using instant messaging.. Seems I can only use it if I am on line and a contact or my contacts or one of them is on line.. When they send me an im, I can send them one back by tabbing to edit in the conversation panel and then pressing enter, but don't seem to be able to do this or send ims unless both of us are on line.. The Skype home page says you can send someone an instant message when they are not on line and then when come on line they can read your im.. This is not Skype Premium, it is the free version of Skype.. Also, I am wondering why it does not announce audibly when someone comes on line, such as a contact.. Windows messenger would announce that audibly by saying" Rag doll has just signed in or something to that effect, because I used to use Windows messenger and also did not have trouble sending instant messages with it, but Skype doe snot seem to say out loud when someone is on line or comes on line;. There is a green light by their name or icon, and also I can tabover and it will say they are on line but by the time I do all that, tab over and all, when I get ready to send an instant message or something or call them, they are already showing off line again.. Can anyone tell me more about the free version of Skype and how it works as far as a screenreader like Jaws and if it announces audibly when they are coming on line, is there a setting to make it announce that? Also how do I send an im when they are off line for them to read when theycome on line with Jaws, so far I have to be on line and the contact does too, or that's what I have had to do so far.. No... and why several at once? You are asking for problems here if the apps use the same Windows files. If you don't like the Windows uninstaller try a package called Revo Uninstaller. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ridge007 To: accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, February 21, 2011 11:09 AM Subject: [accesscomp] looking for utility to...
