Thanks Scott for your reply and expertise! Orator is not out yet, does not support older devices and will cost somewhere around $499 on top of what you spend for your phone. (there are rumblings of a deal with Verizon though that may reduce these costs somewhat) An Apple IPhone comes with voice over installed and is totally accessible (including many of the applications). You will pay only the fees that a sited person would pay and have your access included. (I want to see more companies take this on like Apple has) I have to say that the IPhone has a steep learning curve and is entirely touch sensative so no physical qwerty but to the one every blind person I've spoken to has switched from Mobile Speak to the IPhone and loves their device. Just be ready for some learning up front. I would invite you to join the aiphone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx mailing list to discuss this in more detail with lots of other users. It's a good general list that splintered off from the MSP mailing list and is more open and both IPhone or non IPhone questions are fair game. (no vendor intervention so it's very balanced) In all fairness I have not used orator personally but probably won't now because of how Humanware is butchering the product. (and it's not even out yet) Oh and HW will not be offering a demo version so you need to buy the product site unseen. If I were you I'd go Apple or go Mobile Speak in that order. Can you compare and contrast that particular phone with the new Orator software made for Blackberries smart phones. To include best functionality and price if possible. The Orator is being sponsored by humanware.org. Orator was designed by Codefactory and the company that make Blackberry smart phones.. Prefferablly, I like to buy a device that work out of the box without buying third party software to have similar functionality as my sighted peers. Thanks, Rob!
