I don't have the version the person has on this machine nor do I know which version of Windows she is using. If she knows how to look at dialogs she is not familiar with, have her look in Add/Remove programs. When she finds the entry for whatever is appropriate, it may be for Microsoft Office or Microsoft Wordk depending on what she owns, then have her look for the change button if she is using XP. She should tab through the items to see what is available. She should not select remove unless it is the only applicable option. When I activate change with the space bar, it's a button, a dialog comes up which contains three radio buttons, one of which is for repair. She should work through the dialog. She may need her installation disk. She may be asked for it during the repair. Again, my version of Office uses the dialog with three radio buttons I spoke of. The person will have to see what is available and work with it accordingly.

If the problem only occurs on files she gets from you, nothing is corrupted. If it happens in general, then your friend should repair Word. It's not a
question of something being corrupted. The message says that two files
cannot be found. Has your friend been spell checking other documents or
just this one? If she hasn't been spell checking others, she needs to test
this with something she writes herself using her version of Word to
definitely determine if the problem is related to your document causing this
behavior or if it is a problem with her program. I haven't seen this
discussed anywhere but I would be more than skeptical that the problem is
related to the document. I expect the same error messages to occur
regardless of what she is spell checking. I see no reason why different
versions of a document would cause such errors.

The document's don't determine which spell checking files are used. They
are in the program. The spell checker comprises a subprogram of Microsoft
Word.

Well, in that case, do you think there might be something corrupt?

If your friend has an earlier version of ms word than you, then she might not be able to read the document if you have edited it. But you should be
able to read hers.
