Do you have a JAWS disk? Have you looked at any of the training material on the JAWS disk? When Vista came out, the introductory training material was completely rewritten. It explains, step by setp, every detail of the installation including what to do to work with UAC, User Account Control. the JAWS training material is more or less adequate for Vista but you may find it more pleasant and easier to learn some important Vista basics by seeing if Cathy Anne Murtha has the short tutorial she did on the Vista start menu and the Microsoft Word ribbon. While you evidently are not interested in the Word part of the tutorial, the Vista start menu will give you good, well organized, basic information about one of the most important structural changes in vista, the new start menu. I would advise learning about it rather than simply reverting to the classic start menu. You can make Vista work much like XP if you revert but you will then not be able to use some new Vista features and you may find you want to use them if you don't reject them before trying them.

Do you know how to use the Daisy (spelling) reader that FS provides to listen to training material? I don't know if you can listen to it directly from the cd or if you need to place it on your computer.

Thanks, was not sure about that.. Are the keystroke commands different for
Jaws 10 version and Vista home Premium? I know there is a help file but I am
not real good at going by those.. I will have to learn them if there are
quite a lot of them, someone said there was.. Thanks again, Pat

Just install jaws and when it first starts it will ask you if you want to
start jaws automatically. That should do the trick. There's nothing
special about vista.

I recently bought a new computer on line and still have to get Jaws version
10 loaded on it. This is Vista Home Premium with a quad core AMD processor..
Is there any certain way to install Jaws so it will come on at the start
menu atutomatically on this type of computer. It does that on mne now but I
have XP now.. Please send me the instructions if you can on how to do this
where it comes on when the computer is booted up or restarted and will come
on every time automatically, I am not sure how to do this on this model
computer..It may not make a difference but still was wondering if any of you
have Windows Vista Home Premium, I am sure you do and have installed Jaws
version 10 to start automatically at the beginning or start menu.. Thanks,
Pat
