TEK TALK FEATURES DEBORAH KENDRICK, AWARD WINNING COLUMNIST AND TECHNOLOGY
TRAINER, ENHANCED HEARING IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Enhanced Hearing in the 21st century

As blind people, we have all heard at some point the philosophy that if a
child or adult is going to be blind, they could not have chosen a better
time in history. From reading today's newspaper to researching any given
topic, technology makes so many things easier for us than it was for our
blind brothers and sisters in centuries past.

The same principle applies to those with hearing impairments.

While you may remember the elderly relative who sat, alone, at your mother's
kitchen table, unable to join the conversation due to deafness or hearing
loss, today's wearable and other technology brings people of all hearing
abilities into the circle of communication.

Deborah Kendrick, award-winning writer and technology trainer, will discuss
the Phonak ComPilot, a kind of necklace of sound, as well as other devices,
that can deliver loud and clear the sound of your television, your stereo,
or your colleagues around the conference table. Best of all, the sounds you
want to hear can be delivered directly into your ears.

Join us for a lively discussion of devices designed to make this world of
sound an accessible place, even for those with significant hearing loss.

Deborah will discuss the ComPilot and other devices and a bit about how
nicely they play with technology for the blind or low vision user.
