If you're working in a network environment you may have noticed that you can print to any one of a number of printers in your building. You may have also noticed that your default printer isn't always the one you'd like. Here's how to set your default printer to the one you want. (Please note that this might not be possible in all network environments. In some cases you might have to contact your network administrator to access these windows and settings.) *I. Windows-xp A. Using a Mouse: Go to the START menu and select SETTINGS and then select PRINTERS AND FAXES A list of all the printers you could possibly use is then displayed. The one with the black and white check mark next to it is your current "Default Printer." If you'd like to change it RIGHT CLICK on the printer you would like to set as your new default printer and select "SET AS DEFAULT PRINTER" from the list. B. From the keyboard: 1. Go to the start menu. 2. Press the letter s until reaching "settings" followed by enter. 3. Go to "printers and faxes" and press enter. 4. Arrow down to the printer you sish to be the default. 5. Press alt plus the letter f to access the "file menu." 6. Arrow down once and you should land on "set as default." Press enter and the printer is now the default one for all programs. *II. In Windows Vista and Windows Seven: A. Using a Mouse: 1. Click on the start menu and you are placed into an edit box. 2. Type in the word "printer" without the quotes." 3. Click on "change default printer." 4. Highlight the printer to use As the default. 5. Click on "set as default." If you can not find "set as default", go under the file menu and it is the first choice. B. From the keyboard: 1. Press the start menu button. 2. Type in the word "printer" without the quotes. 3. Arrow down to "change default printer" and press enter. 4. Arrow down to the printer to use as default. 5. Press alt plus the letter f. 6. Arrow down to "use as default" and press enter.
