Knowing It, Dan's tip for August 6 2015

Fact of the Day:

Drinking water after eating hot spicy food will not calm your tongue. The
spices in most of the hot foods that we eat are oily, and oil and water
don't mix. In this case, the water just rolls over the oily spices. What
can you do to calm your aching tongue? Eat bread. The bread will absorb
the oily

spices. A second solution is to drink milk. Milk contains a substance

called "casein" which will bind to the spices and carry them away.

Things to Ponder:

If you're cross-eyed and have dyslexia, can you read all right?

If you are driving the speed of light and you turn your lights on: Do they
come on??

Do your tail lights come on twice as fast??

Take note....

The San Francisco Zoo has an elephant named Calle who has a chronic
illness,

requiring medication. The zoo people couldn't get Calle to take her dose

orally, so a California pharmacologist developed a suppository. The
10-inch-long, four-pound, cocoa-butter bullets are crafted by the good
folks

at Guittard Chocolates in Burlingame. Administering the DAILY medication
takes five zoo workers, including one person to distract Calle with treats

and one person who wears a full-arm glove.

FIVE people have jobs worse than yours!

Now quit complaining and get back to work!

Your PC May Have Been Uploading Windows 10 to Others without You Knowing It

Windows 10 upgraders may not be aware of a new addition to Windows that has
the features of a torrent client. It's called Windows Update Delivery
Optimization (WUDO).

WUDO is a peer-to-peer delivery system that allows Microsoft to upload the
Windows 10 bits stored on your system to PCs around the world. It is an
ingenious way to spread the load of distributing Windows updates and also
apps. Unfortunately, it is enabled by default on most home systems and not
everybody is happy about that. If you are concerned about using your upload
bandwidth or just leery about connecting to a bunch of unknown computers,
here is how to disable WUDO.

1. Open the Start Menu

2. Click or tap "Settings"

3. Select "Update & security"

4. In the left-side pane, select "Windows Update"

5. In the right-side pane, select "Advanced options"

6. In the new right-side pane that opens, select "Choose how updates are
delivered"

7. Use the slider (highlighted in yellow in the graphic) to turn WUDO off.
