If you want to see text straight across the page and not see columns read from top to bottom, turning off the feature will solve the problem. Unless you understand and know when it is appropriate to have recognize columns on or off, you should have it on unless you know you are reading something, such as a specific bill from a specific company, where you do not want columns recognized.

Hi Gene, Recognize columns was on and I turned it off. Will that fix it? Thanks, Don----- Original Message ----- From: "Gene" <gsasner@xxxxxxxxx>To: <accesscomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 17, 2010 10:48 PM Subject: [accesscomp] Re: Columns in Open BookI should add that this is where the command is in Openbook version 7. It'sprobably in the same place and the same short cut keys probably apply inversion 6. If it isn't in that place or if the short cut keys don't apply, look through the settings dialog and you will find the setting. The short cut sequence is,hold the alt key while executing these commands. alt g followed by c followed by z. Release alt and press enter to close the dialog and accept the settings change. You will usually want this item checked but for reading as you wish to read, you will want itunchecked. I haven't experimented with this setting. I don't know if youneed to scan a page over again to have columns not recognized or if the page that already exists will be displayed differently. You will have to experiment. I would advise that you look through the settings available in Openbook and read the context sensative help available for those that interest you. It's a good way to learn about the program. Open the settings dialog. tab through the settings, use shift f1 to open and read context sensative help for a field you are interested in. then press escape, continue to tab and read context sensative help for other fields of interest. Once you get back to where you started, use control tab to move to the next page of the multipage dialog and follow the same procedure. IN this manner, you can move through all settings categories and see the available options.
