Hi Damon,

It is not so easy to change the recording format by accident, because you
have to move the record format switch first, before it goes into that menu,
and that switch is not one of those that moves easily.

For what it is, the H1 is fantastic, and you will not get a better recorder
at the price. Let's see, the H1, is 89.99 pounds, and the DM5 is 250. 'Nuff
said.

All the best

Steve

I heard plenty of hiss in the background on Neal Ewers podcast though. Also,

the auto levels on the zoom H1 are shockingly bad - they take ages to
recover after a loud bang or microphone pop and seemingly, depending on the

ambient noise in the room, I'm not entirely sure it always does recover.

Whereas the autolevels on the Olympus DM5, as demoed by neal Ewers, had
remarkably good autolevels.

And just harping back to the Zoom H1, Neal Ewers warned that you can knock
it into a different recording mode, say between 64kbs up to 128kbs quality.
That doesn't sound like an accessible recorder to me because there's no way
a blind person can know it's happened until they listen back to the
recording later.

Any thoughts on this and I'd really like to hear.
