Hi Andrew

I thought so, thanks for confirming it though.

Hi Brian,

You will need to buy an additional copy of the product, as you can't go
into single license elements until you have several machines on which
you need to do this on. This is called VLK (volume license key) and is
very expensive.

If you have Windows 98 you can use the upgrade edition - it doesn't
matter whether you upgrade or do a clean install.

I would argue now though that machines which are still on 98 may not
really benefit now from upgrading to XP, as they will be at least 4/5
years old, (machines coming from late 2001 had XP (or should have), and
newer programs will eat through their resources.

Andrew.

Hi

I need to install windows XP onto a computer which previously had 98 on
it, and I wonder what the most economical way of installing Windows XP on a different machine is.
1. If you have a copy of Windows XP already which I do, can I simply purchase an additional licence for it, and if so how, or
2. Is it just best to buy a new copy of XP for that computer?

Thanks.
