Because dots 256 would be full stop at all times apart from at the start of 
a word if I remember, including the decimal point, so you know when you see 
a full stop in print you can translate it to that in braille, and vice 
versa.

But why stop things like a lower D etc in the middle of a word?  I do agree
that Emails and web addresses are too crammed with what I think are silly
indicator signs, but no more five-six Y, or dot six Y?  Good grief behave!!
