Damon you may want to try uninstalling zoomtext as well in that case to see 
if this helps.zoomtext 8 was infamous for being riddled with bugs and 
performance issues hence the relatively short period between version 8 and 
9.

If the problem goes away then you are of course sorted.

steve, it does it with all versions of jaws that I have on my PC leading
back to 4.5

This is a problem I've only had in the last 9 months.

Since that time I should say that I have also installed ZoomText on my PC.
ZoomText also causes my computer to closedown when run with JAWS. I'm
running Zoomtext version 8.0

I should add that ZoomText is rarely switched on but I guess it's there in
my computer's system even if it's not on.
