To my knowledge, the only screen reader that will let you do this is
Supernova. The reason is Supernova lets you relabel what are called window
classes within Windows, and a combo is simply a class.

Actually it isn't. Sighted people don't call them combo boxes, it is only
screen readers that call them that, and web standards. Sighted people call
them drop downs. You can't expect sighted people to always use jargon that
we understand through screen readers. Ask any sighted person what a combo
box is and see what you get.
