I don't know about this specific article but I'm sure I read about vibrating shoes quite some time ago. Who knows whether it's a hoax or not - but in any case, of course guide dogs won't be replaced by them. Same old nonsense...

Gav. VIBRATING SHOES Guide dogs could soon be replaced by vibrating shoes, scientists claim. The shoes, which could be on the market next year, have been made by researchers at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Miniature ultrasonic equipment fitted into the toe caps acts as an echo sounder by transmitting a beam that reflects back off obstacles ahead. The Sensorsare linked to a vibrating device on the shoe and the closer the object, themore the shoe vibrates.Scientists are now developing a device which will tell the wearer where theyare and in which direction they are walking. kevin - (lord l) "Civilization exists by geological consent, subject to change without notice"-Will Durant contact me: email/msn: kream@xxxxxxxxxxxx skype: lordandladyl __________ NOD32 2378 (20070704) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
