Hi.When I do use Linux I use a flavour called Vinux, which is Ubuntu designed for the visually impaired. The desktop is in Gnome. As a result it comes with Orca, a screen reader and magnifier which also supports Braille displays. The speech that Orca uses by default is the same one that NVDA uses; ESpeak.
Hope this helps. Sent using Thunderbird On 24/08/2010 7:03, Mohammed Adeel wrote:
Hi, I've not used linux before. I would like to instal it on a fairly slow PC which I would like initially to use as a media centre so I can play DVD's, CD's, music and maybe TV and radio. I have come across various versions of Linux that are aimed at creating a media centre. I was wondering what screen reading support is like in Linux especially with customised versions like LinuxMCE and a program called XBMC. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also how are the speech synthesisers compared to the way eloquence sounds?
