If you do some Googling, Kevin, you will also find some very
neat external boxes, some of which will even provide card
readers and such like.

hi george, thanks for this. i know i don't have a spare cd
bay on this pc.
but i'll take a look at the URL you gave. i do have a spare
slot to put an expansion card in though, so that's probably
the best option.

Hi Kevin,

The ONLY way is to add a USB2 expansion card to the PC.

But here's a tip you may be interested in.

There are devices around which will provide a front panel
display, using a blank CD drive bay on your PC. But they
are not usually just USB.

One example, just from a quick Google, but shows the
principle is at:-

hi all, okay! i have an mp3 player. when i plug it into one
of the USB ports on this pc, i get a message telling me i'm
plugging a high speed device into a non-high speed port, or
words to that effect. my mp3 player can handle USB 2.0. and
so i'm guessing my usb ports on this pc can only handle upto
USB 1.1. what's the best and/or cheapest way to get this pc
to handle USB 2.0?
