Hi Steve,
I do not know if the Echo Show will tell you what colours are, but it does have
a scanner ability, though here in my kitchen the scanning does not work very
well. Ginny tells me that it is because of the low lighting in our kitchen.
Steve, Ginny has just looked on the web and the Echo Show scanning devise reads
the bar code on any products, but there is no facility for detecting objects or
colours yet.
David.

Hi David,

This is interesting.  So it will tell you what any product is, presumably if
you scan the bar code?

Does it do other things like colour recognition?

All the best

Steve

Hi Jackie,
I have the echo Show and it has a scanning ability, so one can holed up a
product and ask the A Lady to scan it, and hopefully it will be able to tell
you what the product is!!
Also it is good for recipes as you can read them on the screen, as well the
recipe being read out to one.
David.

No I didn't say there were special apps, just that the camera could
determine what you have in your wardrobe!

Hi Jackie,

It does indeed have a camera, but I've never heard of special apps for it.

All the best

Steve

I thought I read it on Twitter or somewhere that it had a camera so you
could identify colours and stuff.  Perhaps it was one of those rumours, but
there were an awful lot of them at the time.

Have I got this completely wrong, or is it possible to use its camera to
identify colours etc?

Hi Kevin,

I had a quick look at it earlier in the year.

The main advantage is that because it has a screen, it has Voice View  so
you can use it like a Fire tablet, playing Netflix on it for example.

You can even use its on-screen keyboard to set up wi-fi connections.

It's quite an interesting piece, but too expensive for me just to have a
play.

All the best

Steve
